The short version. Midway has no accounts, no analytics, no
advertising, and no server holding anything about you. Your location stays on
your phone. Your saved list stays on your phone. Nothing you do in the app is
sent anywhere unless you write to support and press send.
Location
If you allow it, Midway uses your device’s location to show how far things
are, to sort by what is nearest, and to draw walking directions. All of that
happens on your phone.
Your location is never transmitted. The weather in the app is fetched for the
fairgrounds’ own fixed coordinates, not for wherever you happen to be, so
checking the forecast does not tell anyone where you are either.
You can decline location access and the app still works — you lose distances
and directions, not the map, the schedule or the listings.
What is stored on your device
- Your saved list of food, places and events.
- Your filter settings and which day you were looking at.
- A local record of what you have opened, used only to order suggestions on
your own phone. It is never uploaded.
- Cached map, schedule and weather data, so the app works without signal.
Deleting the app deletes all of it. There is no copy anywhere else.
What the app connects to
Midway ships its catalog inside the app, so most of it needs no network at
all. It does reach these services:
- tiles.openfreemap.org — map tiles. Requesting a tile
necessarily reveals which part of the map is on screen.
- api.open-meteo.com and api.weather.gov —
forecast and official weather warnings, both requested for the fairgrounds’
fixed coordinates.
- midwayfair.app — a small file of corrections, so a pin in
the wrong place can be fixed without an app update. It is a plain download and
carries nothing about you.
- api.web3forms.com — only when you send a support message,
and only what you typed into it.
Photographs in the app are loaded from the sites they are credited to. Links
you tap open in your browser and are governed by whatever policy that site has.
What Midway does not do
- No accounts, no sign-in, no email address required.
- No analytics or usage tracking of any kind.
- No crash or diagnostic reporting SDK.
- No advertising, no ad identifiers, no third-party trackers.
- Nothing is sold or shared, because nothing is collected to sell.
Support messages
If you send a support message it is delivered by email to the person who
makes Midway, through a form-delivery service. It contains what you wrote, plus
the app version and your device model so a bug can be reproduced. If you include
a way to reach you, that is used to reply and nothing else.
Children
Midway is a general-audience guide and does not knowingly collect anything
from anyone, of any age.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. If a change ever
affects what leaves your device, that will be said plainly rather than buried.
